Manchester United keen on signing Bundesliga left-back?

Philipp Max on Manchester United radar

Manchester United are reportedly planning to continue their spending spree with a move for Augsburg defender Philipp Max.

The 24-year-old has come off a stellar season with the Bundesliga outfit where he provided 12 assists from the left side of the defence and this appears to have caught the eye of Jose Mourinho.

According to SportBild, Max could be the newest addition in the United ranks with Mourinho said to be eyeing an attack-minded left-back to replace Ashley Young.

However, the German is unlikely to come on the cheap with Augsburg set to demand at least £35m for the services of the former Schalke 04 graduate.

Max was Bundesliga's best performing left-back in the season just past but Germany boss Joachim Loew still decided against picking him for the World Cup.

When quizzed on the same, the World Cup-winning manager hinted that the 24-year-old could be considered for the national team duties post the global tournament.
