David de Gea set for fresh United extension

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to reward goalkeeper David de Gea with a new bumper contract which would make him the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world.

The Spain international has for a number of years been linked with Real Madrid but United have now come to the decision to commit the keeper for the long-term.

According to Marca, Los Blancos are unlikely to get an opportunity to sign De Gea this summer with United prepared to dish out a new deal on his return from the World Cup.

It is added that the club are prepared to reward him with a contract worth £385,000-a-week and this would put him only behind Alexis Sanchez in the highest-paid players list at Old Trafford.

De Gea has made over 300 appearances during his seven seasons with United and during this period, he has racked over 100 clean sheets for them across all competitions. His current deal expires in the summer of 2019.
