Bayern set Boateng price amid United interest

Bayern Munich have reportedly informed Manchester United to pay up a fee of around £50m in order to sign German defender Jerome Boateng this summer.

The Bundesliga holders are open to offloading the 29-year-old during the current transfer window after it was known that his representative is speaking to potential suitors.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United are in the market for a new central defender this summer and Boateng is rumoured to be one of the eight players on the club's wishlist.

As such, the Bavarian giants have now set a £50m price for the World Cup winner and they are supposedly prepared to listen to offers with Juventus also interested.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has spend a combined sum of £61m on Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof over the past two transfer windows but neither of them have settled in the central defensive role.

Whilst Lindelof has struggled to adapt to the pace of the English game, Bailly has had concerns with a couple of long-term injuries which have hampered his progress.
