Mesut Ozil to take number 10 shirt at Arsenal

The departure of Jack Wilshere from Arsenal has opened up the coveted number 10 shirt at the Emirates Stadium and according to reports from the North London club, Germany international Mesut Ozil will take over the number. Ozil currently wears the number 11 shirt.

Arsenal had been working on a new deal with midfielder Jack Wilshere, whose contract expires this week, but the player decided against a longer stay with the Gunners having had a conversation with new manager Unai Emery.

Now Mesut Ozil will finally get his wish and will don the number 10 shirt next season; a shirt number the German international has been hoping to wear for some time. 

Ozil wrote agood byemessage for Wilshere on Twitter, posting: "A true Gunner is leaving @Arsenal. Good luck on your next adventure bro."

Wilshere has a few weeks to decide on where his next destination will be and there are likely no shortage of options for the England international, who missed out on a place in England's World Cup squad in Russia.
