Petr Cech drops update on his Arsenal future

Petr Cech news

Cech decides to stay at Arsenal

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has confirmed that he has no desire to join Napoli during this summer's transfer window and he is prepared to fight with Bernd Leno for the number one role.

The 36-year-old was prone to making numerous errors last term which cost the club dearly especially in the away games but this does not appear to have deterred him from staying put at the Emirates.

In a report covered by Metro, he said: "My contract with Arsenal still has a year to run. The only thing I'm preparing for is the fight for the No.1 spot in goal. Napoli were interested but my future is at Arsenal. I didn't think of changing clubs."

With Cech deciding to stay, David Ospina appears the likely candidate to vacate his position during the current transfer window after having played a back-up role in the last three seasons at the club.

There has been no concrete offer as of yet for the Colombian but Fenerbahce president Ali Koc is said to have recently met with Gunners representatives to discuss a prospective move for the 29-year-old.
