Lingard set for bumper extension at United

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to reward Jesse Lingard with a fresh bumper contract once he returns from the summer World Cup in Russia.

The 25-year-old enjoyed his best-scoring season with United last term with 13 goals across all competitions and his performances on the pitch have been rewarded with a regular starting spot with England at the World Cup.

According to The Sun, United hierarchy are aware of the vast improvement made by Lingard and they are prepared to offer him a new contract which would double his current £75,000-a-week wages.

Lingard had been periphery of the first-team during the early stages of his professional career but he has managed to transform his fortunes around under Jose Mourinho to become a vital figure in the starting lineup.

The Englishman currently has three years left on his existing deal which was penned in April 2017. Lingard is expected to start for the Three Lions in their World Cup quarter-final against Sweden on Saturday.
