Liverpool increase bid for Croatian defender

Liverpool have made a £17.5million bid for Croatia and Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida, according to Mirror Football.

Vida has been performing wonderfully well for Croatia at the ongoing World Cup in Russia, helping them reach the final.

According to reports, Liverpool had a £15.9million bid for the defender rejected by the Turkish side.

Besiktas are willing to sell the player they bought in January if the price is in the region of £30m.

The defender can play in a variety of defensive positions that include the centre-back and the two full-back positions.

Moving to Liverpool will ensure that he joins fellow Croatian Dejan Lovren who is also with him in Russia.

Klopp is still looking for players to improve his squad after making it to the Champions League final where they lost to Real Madrid last season.

Before his move to Besiktas, Vida had played for Bayer Leverkusen, Dinamo Zagreb, and Dynamo Kyiv.

If the move to Liverpool is completed, the Reds' fans will be hoping he brings some of that Croatian energy that has led them to their first World Cup final.
