Swiss attacker scheduled to undergo Liverpool medical
Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri is reportedly on the cusp of joining Liverpool with a medical scheduled to happen in the next 24 hours.
The Switzerland international had a good season with the Potters last term with eight goals and seven assists to his name but this could not avoid their relegation from the top-flight.
Since then, Shaqiri has been linked with a summer exit owing to his relatively cheap relegation break clause and the Reds appear to have won the race for his services.
According to The Liverpool Echo, the Merseyside giants have triggered a release clause worth £13.5m in his contract and he has now been invited to have a series of medical tests with the club.
It is added that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has been a keen admirer of the attacker since his Borussia Dortmund days where the Swiss was plying his trade for Bayern Munich.
Shaqiri has made nearly 100 appearances during his three seasons with Stoke City. He was most-recently part of the Switzerland which reached the round of 16 stage of the World Cup.
