Manchester United prepare a huge bid for England World Cup star

Harry Maguire news

Manchester United are preparing to make a huge bid for England and Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, according to the MailOnline.

According to the report, United could pay as high as £50m, around three times the amount the Foxes paid for his services in 2017.

Maguire has been in superb form for England at the ongoing World Cup in Russia, scoring their first goal in the 2-0 win over Sweden in the quarter-final.

He is the latest central defender to be linked with a move to Old Trafford as United look to strengthen their defence.

United are reportedly interested in AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci with the Italian side's hierarchy unwilling to sell.

United currently have a good number of central defenders that include Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, and Daley Blind.

But United are close to offloading Blind, with reports indicating that his move to Ajax could be completed by Monday.

Despite the Dutchman's imminent move out of Old Trafford, Jose Mourinho still needs to reshuffle the defence to ensure that any new signing fits into the United squad without unsettling the current defenders.
