New Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has dismissed the ongoing speculation over Gary Cahill's future by insisting that he can still offer plenty to the Blues.

The England international has recently been linked with a possible exit from Stamford Bridge amid claims that Sarri could fancy a younger replacement in the ranks.

However, speaking in a news conference, Sarri has seemingly dismissed the gossip by suggesting that the club-captain still has a future with the west London giants.

"A number of English players is imposed (in the Premier League rules), so there will be English players. I never want to make these kind of distinctions – I don't want to discuss nationality. With respect to Cahill, I think he can still give us a lot," he said.

Cahill, who has just a year left on his current contract, has managed nearly 300 appearances for the Blues since arriving from Bolton Wanderers in the summer of 2012.

He was in-and-out of the starting lineup under Antonio Conte last term but he came back into contention towards the end, starring in the FA Cup final triumph over Manchester United.
