Manchester United keen on Chelsea defender

Manchester United are keen on signing Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, according to L'Equipe.

With a few hours to the deadline, Zouma has emerged as a target for a United side that is eager to sign a central defender.

The former Saint-Étienne defender is a surprise target for United who have failed in their chase to land a single central defender this summer.

United have completed the signing of defender Diogo Dalot, midfielder Fred and goalkeeper Lee Grant.

United have had two bids rejected for Leicester City's Harry Maguire but the defender is reportedly hopeful of completing a move.

United have a good number of central defenders and have always maintained that they will need to buy before they can sell - and with the close of the window a few hours away, United may have to use what is currently in their squad for the upcoming season.
