Everton sign Chelsea defender on loan
Everton have formally announced the signing of Kurt Zouma on a season-long loan from Chelsea. The Toffees had agreed on a loan deal for the Frenchman before the transfer deadline but they were holding up the announcement after being unsure whether the paperwork was processed in time.
Now that everything has been cleared, the Toffees have confirmed the signing of Zouma on a temporary basis for the campaign and the Frenchman may most probably command a central defensive role alongside Yerry Mina, who himself arrived from Barcelona on transfer deadline day.
The Merseyside outfit begun their transfer business in a relatively slow fashion and they were concerns that they may not bolster the backline before the deadline. However, they have managed to achieve their goals in time and the presence of Zouma and Mina should enhance their prospects of competing for European football.
Everton failed to win any of their last six pre-season games but Marco Silva will be hoping for a better start to the league campaign starting from the away game at Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.
