Michy Batshuayi explains reason behind Valencia loan
Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has said that the presence of manager Marcelino played a key role in luring him to Valencia this summer.
The Belgium international netted nine goals for Borussia Dortmund on loan during the backend of the previous campaign and he has now earned another temporary stint after failing to receive assurances of regular gametime at Stamford Bridge.
Upon his arrival at the Mestalla, Batshuayi acknowledged that Marcelino and the competitiveness of the league were influential towards him joining the Spanish outfit, he said: "It's true that I had other options, but I talked to the coach and he convinced me to come to Valencia. Mestalla is magnificent."
Batshuayi is likely to compete with Rodrigo Moreno for the striker's position for the upcoming campaign. Aside from this, he will also have the luxury of playing in the Champions League, which he would not have experienced, had he stayed put in west London.
