Real Madrid are willing to pay a world record transfer fee of £270m for Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar should UEFA sanction the French club, Sport reports.

PSG are facing investigation over their financial activities and may be forced to sell the former Barcelona man if they are sanctioned.

The Ligue 1 paid the current world record fee of £198m to bring Neymar from Barcelona to Paris in the summer of 2017.

Real President Florentino Pérez is reportedly desperate to sign a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo who joined Juventus earlier in the summer.

The UEFA Champions League holders have earmarked the Brazilian as a fitting replacement for the Portuguese who spent nine glorious years at the Bernabeu.

Earlier in the summer, Real Madrid came out to deny trying to sign Neymar from PSG with news making the rounds that they were interested.

A statement from their website read: "Given the constant information linking the PSG player Neymar Jr. with our club, Real Madrid CF wants to clarify that he has no plans to make any offers for the player."

A move to Real Madrid will definitely gladden the hearts of the Los Blancos fans, but it will anger those at rivals Barcelona.
