Barcelona are deemed to have made direct contact with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba during the recent summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Camp Nou following his return from the World Cup but a deal never materialised with Ed Woodwood refusing to listen to offers.

Nevertheless, Mundo Deportivo reports that the Spanish outfit held talks directly with the France international and they are now hoping to land him at the turn of the year.

Pogba has witnessed a strained relationship with manager Jose Mourinho over the past year and he has previously admitted that he had differences with the Portuguese tactician.

In a recent interview, the midfielder refused to rule out a potential move away from Old Trafford and this is likely to come of concern with reports emerging that he could force through an exit this winter.

Pogba has contributed two goals from four Premier League matches for Manchester United this season but both of those have come from the penalty spot.
