Chelsea are reportedly ahead of the likes of Bayern Munich in the race to sign Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen during the winter transfer window.

The Jamaican winger joined Leverkusen from Belgian side Genk in January 2017 and he has since netted 13 times from 46 appearances across all competitions for the club.

Bailey personally admitted during the summer that the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool are keeping tabs on his progress and Fussball Transfers now reports that the former are presently favourites to sign the winger.

Aside from Chelsea, Bayern Munich have also made an attempt to pursue the Jamaica youth international but reports suggest that the attacker would snub their interest, if the Blues manage to agree a deal with Leverkusen.

Bailey, who is presently contracted to Leverkusen until June 2023, has started the new season on a good note with one goal from just two Bundesliga appearances.

He was previously being tipped to represent England at the international stage but that is not expected to happen anymore after it was found that his grandparents were not born in England despite possessing a British citizenship
