Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged Marcus Rashford to fight for his place in the club's attack.

After scoring twice during the last international break, the Englishman has been on the spotlight because of his lack of game time under manager Jose Mourinho.

The 20-year-old is currently serving a three-game domestic ban after getting a red card in United's two nil win over Burnley, but prior to that game, he had made one start and one substitute appearance in the Premier League this term.

“You’ve got to fight, you’ve got to show fight, fight for that position,” Rio Ferdinand told ESPN. “You ain’t growing up at Man United to walk out of the door at the first bit of disruption."

To play regularly, Rashford will have to fight off the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku to achieve that.

Alexis Sanchez has not been the player fans use to know since he joined United in January, but has been playing ahead of Rashford most times.

It will be up to Mourinho to decide who plays more between Sanchez and Rashford as Manchester United progresses.
