Chelsea defender might leave in January
Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has said he may quit the club in January after falling down the pecking order under Maurizio Sarri this season.
The Englishman is yet to make a single appearance this season and could be on his way out.
Speaking to the Mirror, he said: “I don't want to jump the gun but as things stand at this time, probably, yes [I might have to leave in January]."
The former Bolton Wanderers man admitted that he is finding it difficult to deal with the situation this season having been an integral part of things in previous years.
Cahill also said that he is yet to speak to Sarri about his predicament, but will talk with him 'to see where everything is'.
With Chelsea's good performance without Cahill so far, it is difficult to see him playing in top competitions like the Premier League or UEFA Champions League.
Chelsea face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup next Wednesday, and it may just be his first game under Sarri this term.
