Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has reportedly been identified as a transfer target for Manchester United ahead of the winter transfer window.

Koulibaly has established himself one of Napoli's key performers and this recently witnessed him sign a fresh five-year contract with the Serie A outfit.

Despite this, the speculation regarding his future does not appear to cease and according to The Times, the Red Devils could be prepared to lodge an attempt to sign him in January.

United boss Jose Mourinho was left hugely frustrated during the summer after failing to sign a new centre-back but the Portuguese has been backed to reiterate his demand when the transfer window reopens.

Nonetheless, United are unlikely to get Koulibaly on the cheap and they may have to pay a significant sum if they are to convince Napoli into a mid-season sale.

The Senegal international has been valued around the £60m mark over the past few seasons. Chelsea have previously been linked with the defender's services.
