Liverpool defender on the verge of a new contract
Liverpool are reportedly on the cusp of rewarding Andrew Robertson with a new long-term contract. The 24-year-old joined the Reds from Hull City last year and he has since been a regular on the left side of the defence, making over 50 appearances across all competitions.
According to The Mirror, the Reds are close to extending the Scot's contract at Anfield despite him having more than two years remaining on his existing deal with the club.
It is added that the Reds are prepared to reward him with a fresh five-year deal which would double his current salary package of £60,000 a week upon putting pen-to-paper.
Liverpool have made a fluent start in the Premier League and they are currently one of three unbeaten sides including table-toppers Manchester City and Chelsea.
Jurgen Klopp's team secured a 2-0 triumph over Fulham during the weekend and the result sees them in the second spot behind City, who hold a two-point advantage.
