Chelsea defender set to sign new long-term contract
Cesar Azpilicueta will reportedly stay put with Chelsea until the summer of 2022 after agreeing on a new contract worth £150,000 a week with the west London side.
The Spain international is currently in his seventh season with the Blues but his future has recently come under doubt with his contract expiring in 18 months' time.
However, according to The Telegraph, the uncertainty may not last for an extended period with him expected to follow N'Golo Kante and Marcos Alonso into penning a long-term deal with the Blues.
The former Marseille man is likely to earn a £30,000-a-week wage increase with the new deal while he would also earn a further two-year extension on his current contract.
Chelsea secured a much-needed win against Fulham over the weekend and this sees them occupy the third position in the standings ahead of arch-rivals Arsenal.
They are, however, far off from challenging for the Premier League crown with Manchester City already holding a seven-point advantage over them at the top of the standings.
