Manchester United close to agreeing terms with Spanish midfielder
Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera is reportedly on the cusp of penning a new long-term contract with Manchester United.
Herrera's current deal with United expires at the end of the season and he would be free to discuss a pre-contract with a foreign club next month, should an extension not be agreed.
However, according to The Times, the club have managed to avoid such an outcome with the midfielder having now agreed terms over a new contract after multiple negotiations.
The 29-year-old was initially reluctant to pen terms with United unwilling to offer him a pay rise but that concern has supposedly been sorted with the club bowing to his wage demands.
Aside from Herrera, United are also keen committing the likes of Juan Mata, Phil Jones, Ashley Young and Chris Smalling to new contracts and progress is likely to be made in the forthcoming weeks.
United are currently on a four-match winless run in the Premier League but they have a strong chance of securing maximum points when bottom side Fulham make the trip to Old Trafford this weekend.
