Arsenal boss keen on signing La Liga-based defender
Arsenal boss Unai Emery is said to have made a personal check on Djene Dakonam at the weekend with the Gunners aiming to make a summer move for the Getafe centre-back.
The 27-year-old has been in splendid form for the La Liga outfit during the course of the current campaign and this has helped remain in top-four contention with just 10 more matches remaining.
According to AS, Emery is keen on signing a new central defender in the summer and Djene could be among the prime targets after he was watched by the Gunners boss during the goalless draw between Genoa and Valencia.
The Togo international currently has a £31m release clause on his contract but the Gunners are likely to bargain for a lesser sum with the board aiming to work with a limited budget once more.
Djene, who has made 26 La Liga appearances this term with more than 90 percent of those coming from the heart of the backline. He has more than four years remaining on his existing deal with Getafe.
