Arsenal make formal bid for Brazilian winger?
Arsenal are understood to have made a formal bid worth £5m to acquire the signature of Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano.
The 17-year-old has been highly-rated in his home country and he has managed 31 appearances in the past two seasons for Ituano, who finished runners-up in their domestic league.
According to Fox Sports Brasil, the Gunners have sought to beat the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona to the youngster's signature and they have already made a formal bid worth £5m to sign.
It is added that Ituano will take time to assess the offer, given they could receive a much better package from the likes of United, where the player has already had a trail.
Irrespective of this, any deal to an English club could hinge on whether the UK exit from the European Union, with the teenager said to have applied for an Italian passport.
Championship duo Leeds United and Middlesbrough have also been linked with the young attacker, though their chances of signing could rely on their promotion to the top-flight.
