United in for Everton's Gueye

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to step their interest in signing Idrissa Gueye from Everton after deciding to part ways with Ander Herrera this summer.

The Red Devils recently announced that Herrera would be heading through the exit door after failing to agree on a new deal and it appears that the club are keen on signing a replacement from the Premier League itself.

According to The Mail, the Red Devils have set their sights on signing at least one central midfielder after having previously parted ways with Marouane Fellaini in January.

The same publication suggests that Gueye has been earmarked as the prime transfer target and United could pay as much as £40m to convince the Toffees into doing business.

French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain have also been heavily linked with Gueye after failing with a winter move and they could yet hold the advantage with Champions League football for next season.
