French club confirm interest in Chelsea striker
Nice technical director Gilles Grimandi has confirmed that the French side are interested in signing Olivier Giroud from Chelsea at the end of the season.
The Frenchman has struggled to garner regular gametime in the Premier League and he has mostly been restricted to starts in the Cup and European competitions.
As such, he has publicly admitted that he is not pleased with the situation and it appears that Nice are prepared to tempt him to return to Ligue 1 ahead of next term.
Speaking on Canal Football, Grimandi said that the club are likely to contact Giroud regarding their plans and there is the possibility of securing his services during the summer.
"If Olivier Giroud decides to come that is because he likes the project at Nice," he said. "If Olivier is not happy at Chelsea, if he wants to play, we will take all the elements into account."
Giroud has been a regular feature for the Blues in the Europa League campaign this term but the same has not been the case in the top-flight, where he has managed just seven starts.
