Ruben Loftus-Cheek sets demands for new contract

Loftus-Cheek remains reluctant to pen Chelsea deal

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is said to want assurances over a regular starting role in the future in order to commit to a new long-term contract with the club.

The England international barely featured for the Blues in the Premier League during the opening half of the season and that trend continued during the backend until the beginning of April.

According to The Sun, the midfielder is currently reluctant to extend his contract with the Blues and he wants the guarantee of regular Premier League football in the forthcoming seasons.

Loftus-Cheek has been a regular choice under Sarri in the past six weeks and during this period, he has stood out with a number of standout performances from the centre of the park.

Still, there are reports that Maurizio Sarri could pursue another midfielder this summer and that remains a potential concern for Loftus-Cheek, who has high ambitions at the current stage of his career.

Chelsea are presently banned from signing players above the age of 18 for the next two transfer windows, but they are hopeful of at least delaying the ban through an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
