Boateng set for EPL return

Manchester United and Arsenal have received a boost in signing Jerome Boateng with Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness admitting that the central defender should part ways with the side.

The Germany international has just concluded his eighth season at the Allianz Arena but he has managed 263 appearances for the Bayern across all competitions.

According to Bild, the central defender's days with Bayern could be numbered after Hoeness acknowledged that the 30-year-old may not have a future with the club.

The same publication reveals that United could retain their interest in the former World Cup winner but they could face competition from the form of the Gunners.

The former Manchester City man still has two years remaining on his current Bayern Munich, but he may not have assurances of regular gametime next term with Lucas Hernandez joining the club's ranks.

Hernandez, who can feature in both the central defence and left-back positions, is scheduled to join the Bavarian giants next month with the club having reached a transfer agreement with Atletico earlier in the year.
