United to sign Daniel James

Manchester United are reportedly on the brink of securing the signature of Daniel James from Swansea City during this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils have been in discussions to pursue the winger since the end of the campaign and PA Sport has now revealed that he is on the verge of joining the Old Trafford outfit.

James has been training with Wales near Chester in the past few days but reports indicate that he has been permitted to head to United's Carrington base to undergo a medical ahead of the proposed transfer.

United were initially hoping to land James for around £10m but the interest from other top clubs has meant that they have settled for a £18m plus add-ons to pursue the youngster's signature.

James made the breakthrough with the Swans during the previous campaign where he contributed four goals and seven assists in the Championship. He came on the cusp of a £10m move to Leeds last winter but the move fell through at the final hurdle.
