Arsenal are confident that they can secure the signature of Celtic defender Kieran Tierney with a second bid of around £20m.

The Gunners are understood to have already failed with an opening £15m offer for the defender but they appear prepared to make a renewed approach.

According to The Record, the north London side are planning a fresh £20m move for the Scotland international and they are confident that the sum will be sufficient to convince the Hoops into a sale.

Unai Emery's side currently have Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac to perform the duties on the left side of the defence but the future of the former remains in doubt amid his average performances in the past year.

Meanwhile, Kolasinac has been impressive when it comes to the attacking side of his game but he has struggled to keep the opposition at bay on occasions when defending in his own half.

Tierney, who has made 170 appearances for Celtic, is presently recovering from a double hernia operation. He is still expected to return to first-team action ahead of the new campaign.
