Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants 24-year-old midfielder signed before July 1
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly keen on landing the signature of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting before the beginning of next month.
The Portuguese has been linked with a number of elite European sides in the past few weeks but United have been deemed as the favourites to pursue his services.
According to The Record, United are yet to come to terms with Sporting's £62m asking price for the midfielder but they are still regarded as the front-runners to lure him from Lisbon.
The same publication claims that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate for the deal to be concluded before the end of the month such that the Portuguese can link up with his new teammates for pre-season.
Fernandes' agent Miguel Pinho is due to hold fresh negotiations with United in the next few days and it remains to be seen whether he can convince the club to come close to Sporting's valuation.
Fernandes, who is contracted to Sporting until the summer of 2022, was in stunning form for the club last term with a sublime tally of 32 goals and 18 assists across all competitions.
