Manchester United meet with agent of £70m-rated midfielder

Manchester United officials are understood to have held fresh discussions with the agent of midfielder Bruno Fernandes as they seek to lure the Portuguese to Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old had a spectacular season with Sporting during the previous campaign where he notched 32 goals and a further 18 assists across all competitions.

Owing to this, he has received plenty of transfer interest from across Europe but according to O Jogo, United are keen on taking the lead with a fresh round of discussions with the player's representative.

United are currently on the search for a new midfielder in their ranks with midfielder Ander Herrera due to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the month.

The club are also bracing themselves for the shock departure of Paul Pogba and that could further intensify the need to pursue Fernandes, who can be a creative force from the centre of the park.

Sporting currently value the Portugal international at £70m.
