Aston Villa smash transfer record for Brazilian striker
Aston Villa have signed 22-year-old Brazilian forward Wesley Moraes in a transfer deal worth approximately £23,500,000 with the player signing a long-term contract at Villa Park. Moraes, who played for Club Brugge prior to the move to England, has eclipsed Villa's previous transfer record.
The impressive forward, who scored 32 goals in 107 games for Belgian side Club Brugge, is very highly regarded in the Jupiler League and is expected to lead the line for Aston Villa this year on their return to the Premier League.
“I was very happy when I heard that Aston Villa were interested in me – and for a record fee,” the Brazilian told Villa club media.
“I’m just hoping that now I’ll be able to show why out on the pitch. I’m hoping to settle in quickly so I can help the team win trophies and rise up the table."
It's been an incredible transfer window so far for Aston Villa, having already agreed transfer deals for quartet Jota, Anwar El Ghazi, Kortney Hause and Matt Targett.
