Renan Lodi makes 25m euro transfer to Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Athletico Parana left-back Renan Lodi. The Spanish giants have paid a fee of 25 million euros for the left-back, with the player signing a six year deal in the Spanish capital.

Diego Simeone has moved quickly to rebuild his squad, with numerous departures expected this summer including the likes of Diego Costa and Antoine Simeone. It is understood that an agreement with Parana was reached just last month, but a deal has been completed Sunday evening to bring the 21-year-old defender to Spain.

"I'm very happy to be here and arrive to a big club," Lodi said, via the club's website. "I'm very happy to be able to work alongside [Diego] Simeone, he is one of the best coaches."

The 21-year-old, who forced his way in to Parana's first team in 2016, has been a regular starter at his club over the past season and is seen as one of the best emerging talents in Brazil.

 

Lodi helped his club win the Copa Sudamericana in 2018.
