Real Madrid have reportedly joined the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign midfielder Bruno Fernandes from Sporting.

Fernandes has been heavily touted to join the Red Devils over the past month but they have failed to meet Sporting's £64m price tag for the 24-year-old.

In this space, Spurs are understood to have made an approach of their own for the playmaker but it appears that they could face competition from Zinedine Zidane's side, as per Portuguese daily Record.

The 13-time European champions are currently on the verge of signing Donny van de Beek from Ajax, but they are said to want another midfielder in their ranks during the transfer window.

Los Blancos are understood to have opened talks with super-agent Jorge Mendes regarding the same and they may not have much trouble in meeting the asking price for the Portuguese.

Real Madrid have also been linked with a club-record move for Paul Pogba this summer, but a deal for Fernandes should surely end their interest in the World Cup winner.
