Club Brugge have acquired the services of Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet on a five-year contract. The Belgian international has returned to his homeland having spent six seasons playing for the Anfield giants and after falling behind Alisson as the club's first-choice keeper.

Club Brugge have paid a fee of around 4.25 million euros to acquire the services of Mignolet and the Belgian side have released an official statement to confirm the player's departure.

Mignolet had a mixed bag of a time at Anfield, having some seasons where he contributed to Liverpool's success, but in more recent times the Belgian slipped down the pecking order at the club and at times played as third choice keeper.

The 31-year-old 6 foot 4 shot stopper had a 3 year spell at Sunderland prior to moving to Anfield, and before that was the number 1 at Belgian minnows Sint-Truiden. Mignolet hopes that the return home will boost his chances of international recognition and so that he can add to his current haul of 21 caps for the Belgian national team.
