Nemanja Matic aims dig at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has said that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should take the responsibility, if the Red Devils fail to fight for the league title this season.
The Norwegian tactician has placed the emphasis on grooming younger players and the signings of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James have set the example from the recent transfer window.
Elsewhere, Solskjaer has preferred the young Scott McTominay over Matic in the holding midfield role and the Serbian believes the head coach should take the blame for the team's failure, if they are not able to compete for the title.
"The coach must opt for the team that will fight for the title and if he does not win, he bears the responsibility. In order for me to play, one had to sit on the bench and accept that fact, and so do I now." Matic was quoted as saying by ESPN.
Matic was left on the bench during the opening three games of the Premier League season but he managed to make a 30-minute appearance for United during the 1-1 draw at Southampton before the international break.
Manchester United return to Premier League action in mid-September with a home encounter against Leicester City. That game should be regarded as a must-win, considering they are already seven points off the top of the table.
