Tottenham Hotspur confirm injury blow to midfield star
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Giovani Lo Celso has picked up a hip problem which is expected to sideline him for around six weeks.
The Argentina international was one of Spurs' deadline-day signings alongside Ryan Sessegnon and he has so far made three substitute appearances.
Lo Celso will have hoped to earn his maiden start this month but that now appears unlikely to happen following a hip injury picked up during Argentina's 0-0 friendly draw against Chile.
"Lo Celso has returned early after being withdrawn from the Argentina squad due to a hip injury. He will now undergo a period of rehabilitation and is expected to return to training with the first team towards the end of October," Spurs confirmed in a statement.
Spurs have made an average beginning to the current season and they have accumulated just five points from the opening four games in the Premier League.
The Capital outfit are scheduled to face Crystal Palace in the local derby this weekend and they will be eyeing their maiden win since the curtain-raiser against Aston Villa.
