Frank Lampard confirms fresh injury blow for Antonio Rudiger
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Antonio Rudiger picked up a groin problem which contributed to his half-time substitution against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Germany international made his maiden appearance of the season after recovering from a serious knee injury but it appears that he has now suffered a minor setback.
Speaking after the Blues' win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Lampard acknowledged that Rudiger was substituted due to an injury concern and the same will be assessed in the next few days.
"Frank reports on Rudiger’s half-time withdrawal, saying the German sustained a groin injury as he ran off the field late in the first half. The change was more than a precaution and will be assessed in the next few days," read a tweet from Chelsea's official Twitter account.
In the absence of Rudiger, Zouma was brought on to partner Fikayo Tomori at the heart of the defence but their lack of cohesion contributed towards the Wolves scoring a couple of consolation goals.
Chelsea have jumped to sixth on the table after the away win. They are scheduled to host Valencia in the Champions League in midweek before the much-anticipated league clash against Liverpool.
