Frank Lampard praises experienced star after Wolves win
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has heaped praise on Willian following the Blues' 5-2 league triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers on the road.
The Brazil international made a slow beginning to the season and he was disappointing during his three substitute appearances before the international break.
Despite this, the 31-year-old was handed with a starting role for the recent clash against Wolves and he produced an impressive attacking display, though he could not find the net.
Speaking after the game, Lampard said that the Blues can't entirely rely on the young players to guide the team, though they have impressed during the opening stages of the campaign.
He added that the club should respect the experienced players within the squad and reserved special praise for Willian, who produced a much-improved performances from recent weeks.
"It’s important we also respect the experienced players have played a huge part. Wilian was fantastic today, absolutely brilliant. If we are going to be successful this season we can’t rely on the young boys, although at the minute they are doing a good job!," he told Sky Sports.
Chelsea are currently on eight points after the opening five matches and that sees them occupying the sixth position on the table. They are separated from third-placed Tottenham Hotspur on only goal difference.
