United plan contract talks with Greenwood

Manchester United are reportedly planning further discussions with the representatives of Mason Greenwood as they seek to commit the teenager to an improved deal.

The 17-year-old only signed a professional contract with the Red Devils in October last year but the club are making efforts to reward him with a new deal on the back of his recent progress.

According to The Independent, the Red Devils are aiming to advance contract negotiations with their academy graduate, who scored his first senior goal in the 1-0 triumph over Astana.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has so far resisted the prospect of starting Greenwood in the Premier League and he has been restricted to four substitute appearances.

However, the teenager should stand a strong chance of starting this weekend on the back of scoring the only goal during the Europa League opener against Astana in midweek.

Manchester United are presently just outside of the top four on goal difference. They are scheduled to face West Ham United on the road during the weekend's league clash.
