Frank Lampard reacts to N'Golo Kante's performance vs Liverpool
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has said that he is not surprised by the level of performance from N'Golo Kante during the weekend's Premier League clash against Liverpool.
The Blues found themselves trailing by a 2-0 score at the interval at Stamford Bridge following goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino for the Reds.
However, they came up with a much-improved display in the second half and Kante found his name on the scoresheet after a sublime solo goal where he rode off the challenge from three Reds defenders.
Speaking after the 2-1 loss, Lampard said that he is not astonished by the showing from Kante, given the midfielder had exhibited a similar level of performance during the European Super Cup last month.
‘We end being not surprised with Kante, which is not fair on him really. He did it in the Super Cup without training, he did it today with probably not match-fit training, but he’s so important for us you put him in the team and he showed his qualities," he was quoted as saying by Chelseafc.com.
Kante was initially deemed doubtful to make the starting XI after missing nearly a month of training with an ankle sprain. He was still able to play through the entire 90 minutes against Liverpool and the fans should be pleased that he went unscathed.
