Mandzukic wants to join Man United in January

Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic has reportedly turned down a move to Qatar and is keen on making the switch to Manchester United during the winter transfer window.

The Croatia international came close to joining the Red Devils as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku this summer but a deal broke through at the final hurdle with the Bianconeri reluctant to lower their £14m price tag.

Mandzukic has since been sidelined from first-team duties with the Bianconeri and it appears that he will head through the exit door in the New Year with a number of clubs interested.

According to Tuttosport, the 2018 World Cup finalist had the option to head to an unnamed Qatar outfit on a £7m annual salary but he decided to reject the advances.

Instead, he is still keen on realising his dream of playing in the Premier League and is hopeful that United return for his services when the transfer window reopens in just over three months' time.

United are currently without any senior striker to lead the line with both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford on the sidelines with injuries. Mason Greenwood, 17, is likely to start upfront during the League Cup third round tie against Rochdale.
