Manchester United star's agent confirms Barcelona interest
The agent of Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has confirmed that Barcelona were interested in the Swede's services during the summer transfer window.
The Sweden international had emerged as a transfer target for the Blaugrana during the closing stages of the summer transfer window but they could not convince the Red Devils into an agreement.
Speaking to Sport Bladet, Lindelof's agent Hasan Cetinkaya confirmed that the Spanish champions were keen on pursuing his client but United were firm with their not-for-sale stance.
"He's one of the best centre-backs on his feet and Barcelona wanted him. That was it. I can talk openly about that now. They contacted Ed Woodward multiples times with concrete offers. But they said 'There is no way. Victor is one of our best players'," he told.
Lindelof has formed the first-choice central defensive partnership with Harry Maguire this term and he has recently committed his future to the Red Devils on a fresh five-year contract with the option for another 12 months.
The former Benfica man has been guilty of a couple of defensive mistakes this season but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has continued to back him without doubting his ability.
