Arsenal name their new permanent club captain?

Xhaka is the new Arsenal captain

Arsenal have reportedly offered midfielder Granit Xhaka with the permanent captaincy following a meeting with the players in the first-team squad.

The Switzerland international has captained the Gunners in six of the club's eight matches this term and he has now been handed with the permanent leadership role.

According to BBC Sport, the north London side have decided to go with Xhaka as the permanent skipper but they are yet to announce the vice-captain of the side.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are said to be leading contenders and a decision over the same is likely to be made in the next few days.

The Gunners have accumulated 11 points from the opening six league games and they are currently fourth on the table. They are scheduled to face Manchester United on the road on Monday night.

The Capital outfit are winless in a league game at Old Trafford since 2006 but they will be optimistic of ending the lean streak with the Red Devils looking off-colour in an attacking point of view.
