German defender Niklas Sule rejected Premier League move
Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule has revealed that he had an option to move to England and sign for either Tottenham or Manchester United prior to moving to the Bavarian side. Sule arrived in Munich from Bundesliga rivals Hoffenheim in a 25 million euro transfer deal in 2017.
Instead, Sule opted to stay in his home country and has now gone on to represent the German full national team. Many consider Sule to be one of the best centre-backs in the world.
“It was a thought to go to the Premier League [in 2017],” the 24-year-old revealed.
“This is one of the leagues in which I really want to play. At the time, however, I saw the change to Munich as the best step. And, as you can see, I am very happy at Bayern.
“Not only because I got my way, but also because the fans and all the staff are great.”
Man Utd reportedly were very close to securing a deal to sign Sule back in 2017, with a transfer fee of 20 million euros agreed between the Old Trafford outfit and Sule's then club Hoffenheim.
