Unai Emery hints at midfield role for Arsenal defender

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has hinted that Calum Chambers could be utilised in the midfield, should there be the requirement over the course of the season.

The England international has already played at centre-back, right-back and left-back this season and he has impressed in each of those positions and contributed one goal and two assists.

In a press conference, Emery talked up the versatility of the former Southampton graduate and said that the 24-year-old may feature in the centre of the park if required.

"He helped. He helped us in the training, in the dressing room and when you need him to play right back, centre back, left back like tonight [against Nottingham Forest], and we can use him in the midfield also." he told the club's official website.

Chambers may have to settle for a bench role on Monday night when the Gunners face Manchester United on the road in the Premier League. The Gunners go into the game with 11 points on the board and they can break into the top four with a draw or a win against the Red Devils.
