Tottenham Hotspur confirm major injury blow after Brighton defeat
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that captain Hugo Lloris has sustained a dislocated elbow during the 3-0 Premier League defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
The France international suffered the nasty injury within the opening five minutes of the game and he was thereafter replaced by Paulo Gazzaniga, who witnessed the club succumb to a second defeat in the space of five days.
Speaking after the game, Pochettino acknowledged that Lloris had indeed suffered a serious injury and the same has been confirmed by the club through a statement on their official website.
"We can confirm that Hugo Lloris sustained a dislocated elbow during today's match against Brighton. Our club captain was stretchered off as a result of the injury and will now return to London this evening after being assessed at a local hospital," the statement read.
Spurs have experienced a disappointing start to the season and the shock 3-0 defeat to Brighton has dropped them to eighth in the Premier League standings.
They are still within three points off the Champions League places but their away form remains a concern as they are winless in the past 10 league games - a run stretching to January this year.
