Unai Emery provides fresh update on Mesut Ozil's situation
Arsenal manager Unai Emery has reiterated that Mesut Ozil remains an important player in the squad and the German will receive playing time during the forthcoming round of matches.
The 31-year-old has been restricted to just two outings for the Gunners this term and he has failed to make the matchday squad for the past three games across all competitions.
Despite this, Ozil recently stated that he will honour the remainder of his contract and Emery has now opened up the possibility of the German returning to the playing mix.
"I told you now for the last three weeks Mesut is working and improving and being better in training and if we need him, we are going use him because with his skills in some matches we are going to need him," he said via Sky Sports.
Arsenal return from the international break with an away game at Sheffield United and they can't anticipate an easy contest with the Blades tending to up their game against the elite sides.
Chris Wilder's men have already secured a point on the road at Chelsea and they were unlucky to suffer a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool last month. Dean Henderson's goalkeeping blunder was responsible for the loss.
