Frank Lampard hails forward's patience after Chelsea's win over Ajax
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has hailed the patience of Michy Batshuayi, after he scored winning goal for the Blues against Ajax on Wednesday night.
The west London side picked up a close 1-0 triumph over the Dutch champions in the Champions League and Batshuayi was the game changer off the bench with a 86th minute winner.
Following the game, Lampard appreciated the patience of the strikers on the bench and praised Batshuayi for taking the opportunity to make the difference.
"Michy, the great thing about the strikers I've got is that, even though Tammy has been scoring for me, the other two stayed patient, worked hard, supported the group," he told BT Sport.
"They've got talent. So, it was a choice to bring Michy on because of how mobile he can be and he's waited for his moment and he fully deserved his moment there."
Batshuayi has the second-most productive player for the Blues with four goals and two assists this term but he has yet to make a Premier League start under Lampard.
Abraham has been the undisputed starter upfront on the basis of the early season form and it remains to be seen whether Batshuayi can put the pressure on the young striker with a string of consistent displays.
